Lyra's STEM+ Kit Service

Lyra is a non-profit organization that aims to bridge the gap between current implementations of STEM education in underserved secondary schools and the interactive learning needed to initiate a career in STEM+ fields.

How does Lyra bridge this gap?

Our STEM+ Kits are hybrid presentation modules designed for students to immerse themselves in fields that they may not have as much exposure to. Each STEM+ Kit encompasses one topic of our various series. Students are not only exposed to real-life career applications of each topic, but through Lyra’s hybrid design, students can work together in-person with physical resources provided by Lyra while trained mentors lead these workshops virtually.

With our STEM+ Kits, we strive to help students discover their professional identity and develop the skills and knowledge that they need to succeed in their chosen career paths. Our STEM+ Kits can be tailored based on student needs, age/level, and district requirements.

 What STEM+ Kit series does Lyra offer?

Career Development

 

​This series walks students through various career readiness activities and discussions, including:

  • Introduction to college applications

  • Alternative post-high school options

  • Personal finance and budgeting

  • Resume building

  • Networking

  • Soft skills

  • Presentation development

Core STEM

 

This series aims to translate STEM topics students learn in the classroom into careers and increase exposure to different paths. Topics include:

  • Computer Science

  • Medicine

  • Math and Business

  • Various engineering disciplines, including biomedical, mechanical, electrical, etc.

Entrepreneurship

 

​Throughout this series, students are encouraged to build their own startup  in order to strengthen analytical, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. This includes guidance with:

  • Creating a Lean Startup Model

  • Identifying target markets

  • Customer discovery

  • Marketing and branding

  • Elevator pitches and public speaking

Guest Speaker

This series exposes students to various young STEM+ professionals in order to help students understand the full breadth of career options available to them post-high school.
